"Most importantly, I am
honored to be given this award as there are so many who give their time to EGA
to make it all work. I feel like it is an award that my family also deserves
as they have stood by me as I took so much time from family to give to EGA for
over 30 years now.
I joined EGA in 1979. Our
Chapter was formed in late 1978. I started serving on our Chapter Board in
1980. I was elected the 3rd Madison Area Chapter President in 1982. My
children were very young at the time and have grown up with EGA.
After serving our Chapter in
many positions, I was elected the 5th GLR Region Director in 1986-88. At the
time I was the youngest RD and also served on the EGA Policy and Procedures
Committee.
At that time my kids were in
middle school and things got very busy at home but I remember how I made a
visit to every chapter (53) during my RD term which meant I put on a lot of
miles between that and driving down to the National Board Meetings. Following
that I was then elected to serve as the National Director of Bylaws (1990-91)
and continued to travel to National Board Meetings.
My family got used to me going
off to EGA meetings and events. Now my children are all grown up with kids of
there own and the grandkids are used to me going off to EGA meetings and
events.
Now ! am a Life Member of EGA.
I was the GLR 2008 Seminar Chairman and am now serving as the GLR Seminar
Coordinator, Parliamentarian, member of the Bylaw Committee and the 2010 EGA
Wisconsin State Day Coordinator. At the chapter level I am teaching several
classes, serving on several committees and I am helping to start a youth
Outreach program.
Now to come full circle, I
will be the next Madison Area Chapter President-Elect in 2011 and therefore
the Chapter President again in 2012. That's 30 years since the first time.
Amazing when I think of how time goes by but service to EGA never ends.
I will look forward to
celebrating this award with my EGA/GLR friends at Seminar.
Thank you.
